Την προηγούμενη εβδομάδα έγινε γνωστή η είδηση του θανάτου μιας εγκύου ελεφαντίνας στην Κεράλα της Ινδίας επειδή κατανάλωσε έναν ανανά που ήταν γεμάτος από κροτίδες.

Το άτυχο ζώο τραυματίστηκε θανάσιμα όταν ανατινάχτηκαν οι κροτίδες στο στόμα του παρά τις προσπάθειες ειδικής ομάδας που προσπάθησε να το σώσει. Το ζώο που θα γεννούσε σε 18 με 20 μήνες, αφού περιπλανήθηκε σφαδάζοντας από τον πόνο, κατέληξε σε ένα ποτάμι όπου προσπάθησε να ανακουφιστεί από το τραύμα. Παρότι προσπάθησαν να το μετακινήσουν εκείνο δε μπορούσε να αλλάξει θέση, ώσπου κατέληξε όρθιο.

Η περιοχή Malappuram στο μεταξύ είναι «διάσημη» για τέτοιου είδους φριχτά περιστατικά, καθώς θεωρείται το πιο βίαιο μέρος στην Ινδία. Οι κάτοικοι για παράδειγμα πετούν δηλητήριο στο δρόμο ώστε να μπορούν να σκοτώνουν με μιας και μαζικά, πουλιά και σκύλους, ενώ καθε τρεις μέρες ένας ελέφαντας βρίσκει τραγικό θάνατο.

Για την ιστορία, παρότι υποτίθεται ότι οι αρχές διεξάγουν έρευνα για να βρεθούν οι υπεύθυνοι για τη θηριωδία, μάλιστα έχουν επικηρυχθεί για χρηματικό ποσό, οι ελπίδες να αποδοθεί δικαιοσύνη ολοένα φθίνουν εφόσον πρόκειται για σύνηθες φαινόμενο.

Ο κόσμος στο μεταξύ, δηλώνει μέχρι και σήμερα σοκαρισμένος από το περιστατικό και πενθεί με διάφορα σκίτσα, βίντεο και memes τον άδικο θάνατο της ελεφαντίνας και του παιδιού της.
